Hi All,
Congratulations to our delegation at this year's West Coast Challenge!!! We put on a great event and there are sooooo many people who need to be thanked for all their hard work.
But before that I would first like to congratulate Rick Ayres for his 2nd Place Open finish. Rick beat Ben Pham in the King of the Hill match and then lost a close double match to him for the Individual title. Nice shooting Rick. Jeffrey Hersh was substituted in at the last minute and took 4th place. Tony Wales rounded it up with a nice 8th Place finish.
Our first place Team, Bill Hoover's MoonShadow 28, also had a good run and made it all the way to the finals.
A special thanks to the WCC committee headed up by Tim Clark with the expert help of John Cochran and Russ Pepin. They did a fantastic job and put on a GREAT WCC event.
The talk of the Tournament had to be Cliff Giles' Logo design. The Polo shirts with the design were the most sought after item at the Tournament. (you will see more of the T-Shirt design in the upcoming season).
And of course, you cannot even imagine the amount of work that Steve Duckman put in to get us some great raffle prizes, gift bag items, ads for the Program and the many, many sponsors. (We thank all of them too).
Steve went above and beyond the call and the total amount raised was more than I have ever seen. Thanks Steve, that was an incredible job!!!
Bill Hoover also put in a ton of hours compiling the Program book with the help of Jeffrey Hersh. They put together a first class publication that was the envy of every city. And a special thanks to Jeffrey and Rick, whose generosity made it possible to print the entire Hall of Fame section in color.
Thanks to Jake Fisher, Gibbi Tkatch, Brad Camac and John Savolainen for hounding their friends and suppliers to get us some great items for the raffle and Gift Bags.
Congratulations to Dale Beatie and Gibbi Tkatch for their induction into the West Coast Challenge Hall of Fame..... certainly two worthy additions.
And finally, thanks to all who helped out this weekend and to those who I should have included here and have forgotten.
Thanks again all, Phil Stephens President LAPL
P.S. Today would have been Frank Bustamante's 78th birthday. His daughter Esther has asked us all to take a moment to think of Frank today. |
