Fall2014

To LAPL Members:

Thanks to everyone who played in the Pick-Your-Partner Scotch Doubles 9 ball fundraiser last week.

Congratulations to the winners:

1st place Marty Brennan / Dustin Louis
2nd place Rick Ayres / Justin Yau
3rd place Steve Duckman / Tod Davenport
4th place Gabriel R / Michael G

Please check your emails, our website, or Facebook page to be sure of the date for our next fundraiser.  We have scheduled our 10 ball fundraiser at Trunks on Sunday October 10th which competes with the Aids Walk, so we are trying to re-schedule to Saturday October 9th.  Again check the website or next stats to be sure of the date.

There are only a few more weeks to put your name up for the BOG vote.  Week 7 is the deadline so please get your names in.  If you feel you have something to offer to better our league please enter the race.

Finally regarding our league's need to have 2 teams play their home matches on Mondays, the board is asking all teams to allow any players who cannot make the starting time to be allowed to make up their matches when they arrive.  I personally know a number of people who go to work early on Tuesdays to be sure they can make their matches on time.  This may not be possible for Monday nights.  Let's all try to work through this season with some understanding to everyone affected.

All the best,

Brad Camac
President LAPL

Hi all,

After a rough week we are finally getting back on track.  We have made some changes on the schedule some of those Melgard teams we’ll be playing their home games on a Monday, Charley will be playing out of Trunks, Timmie will be playing out of Gold Coast on Mondays, Ian’s is moving to C-Frenz regular night and Janell’s team will play next week out of Other Door and the next two home games out of Public House on Tuesdays as normal.  We will call and let everyone involved of these changes.

Nominations still open, if you want to run for the board all you have to do is write on the score sheet “Board Runner” and your name, but remember you have to nominate yourself. So far we have:

Bryan Haneiwich
Al Ballesteros

This Sunday is the Pick-A-Partner fundraiser, this is a scotch double 9 ball tournament and it will be held at the Eagle LA as always registration is from noon to 1:00pm.

Hope to see new faces there supporting the league not the same people that usually show up,

you know who you are.

Schesary

P.S To new captains, I need your results by next day of play, you can post them on the website at lapl8ball.org or email them to me at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. or send me a picture of the score sheet to my phone, if you don’t have access to any of these options you can always ask the other team captain to do it for you.

Thx.

Hello LAPL Members,

BOG Nominations are now open.  If you would like to run for the Board, just write your name and “Board Runner” on the score sheet.  Remember, you must nominate yourself to run for the Board.

We want to congratulate the winners of last Sunday Greased Lighting:

1st Place Russ Pepin
2nd Place Mike Harris
3rd Place Michael Pfannenstiel
4th Place Marty Brennan
The 50/50 was Won By Timmie

Also this Sunday September 14th is our next Fundraiser of the season “Lucky Draw” for those of you who don’t know this is a scotch doubles tournament where partners are picked by random draw. This will be at Trunks registration from noon to 1:00pm.

Hope to see everyone there

Schesary

Hello LAPL Members,

I apologize for the delay, as some of you may know a lot is been going on this past week.  Melgard is no longer a sponsor for the LAPL so the board got together on Wednesday to try to come up with options and suggestions for those 4 teams playing out of Melgard.  Charley’s and Timmie’s team will be playing this Monday at Trunks.  Ian’s team is moving to C-Frenz, and we still haven’t found a place for Janell’s team so if you know of anywhere or have a suggestion please let a Board member know.  Just to be clear we are not making anyone play on Mondays, we just ask the teams involved if they don’t have a problem playing on a Monday, that way they can play in a familiar location instead of sending them to a new place that no one knows.

I will try to keep everyone posted of news or changes we might have on the following weeks.

Board Nominations still open. If you would like to run for the BOG, just write your name and “Board Runner” on the score sheet, but remember you must nominate yourself to run for the Board.

Bryan Haneiwich is our first candidate.

This Sunday September 28th is the “Pick-a-Partner” fundraiser, this is a scotch doubles game just like Lucky Draw but instead of 8 ball this is 9 Ball, and you get to bring your own Partner.  How cool is that?  This will be held at the EAGLE LA, as usual registration is from noon to 1:00pm.

Hope to see everyone there

Welcome back to the 2014 Fall L A 8-Ball Season

I want to thank everyone who attended our fall member’s meeting.  I know there were a lot of motions brought up for vote and not everyone left with a winning result for each item, but this league has endured for over 40 years and will continue trying to find its way to perfection.

I want to welcome 2 new teams this season both playing out of Public House on Vermont in Los Feliz. 1st team is captained by Lupillo Rocha, and the 2nd team is captained by Brett Hammond.  I hope everyone welcomes them when you play.

Finally don’t forget our first fundraiser of the season will be the Johnny Cochran Memorial Greased Lightning this coming Sunday September 7th starting with registration 12:00 noon and play begins at 1:00 pm at the Eagle.  The format is 8-ball with each shot being struck on a 15 second time clock.  Great fun and moves along quickly.

I hope everyone enjoys the season... I look forward to seeing you at the Greased Lightning.

All the best,

Brad Camac
President LAPL
