WELCOME TO THE L.A. POOL LEAGUE

Dear Members of the LA Pool League,

Welcome to the start of a new season, Spring 2014 (Season 81).

The schedule for the new season will be both emailed to each of you as well as posted on the homepage of our website www.LAPL8Ball.org.

I would like to announce the addition of a new Sponsor Bar called the Melgard. The Melgard is located on Melrose at Gardner. Street parking is available on Sierra Bonita with no permit required. Otherwise there is metered parking on Melrose until 8 pm. I am sure everyone will enjoy the new venue as they serve food along with a great variety of beer and wine.

Please note that our first fundraiser is scheduled this coming Sunday, January 26 (before the start of the season). We will be holding the Greased Lightning at the Eagle with sign up @ 12:00 and play starting @ 1:00 pm.

On behalf of the entire Board of Governors and the league at large we hope to see you this Sunday.

Here are the rule changes passed at the members meeting.

Spring 2014

New Rules & Regulations Summary

Article VI, Section I, Line B: Teams – by total wins. All eligible players must have a minimum of 25% of games played as a member of a registered team in our league during the current ten week season to participate in playoffs and WCC competition.

Article VI, Section IV, Line A: The team who wins first Place overall in Team Playoffs must participate in the WCC as a Team. Players will not be eligible for competition in any other event. Players must be on a roster in week six (6) to qualify for WCC participation (F2013). All eligible players must have a minimum of 25% of games played as a member of a registered team in our league during the current ten week season to participate in WCC and Playoffs.

Playing Rules #48: COACHING – REGULAR SEASON: All players will be limited to four (4) thirty second “time-outs” per game during regular season play.

(The above rule eliminates the unlimited “time-outs” for new (first season) players.)

Article VI, Section IV, Line H: The Open Individuals matches will be played with a one (1) minute shot with a one (1) minute extension per game. Matches that go to a 5th game will have two (2) one minute extensions for that 5th game.

(New line added after G to “H” and all other lines moved down.)

ARTICLE VII, Section II (first paragraph): All new business should be submitted to any board member at least 48 hours in advance of the Members Meeting and if possible, will be posted on the website prior to the meeting. Submission should be written in the form of a motion. Any major changes to organization or major rule changes must be distributed to the members prior to the meeting.
